It's International Women's Day!

How can we achieve equilibrium?

In a world where the scales appear to be drastically uneven, it seems that it should be easy to see that changes need to be made to give everyone (regardless of gender, race, religion, etc.) an equal opportunity. However, this is not the reality we are in. We must realize that we, the people, actually have a say and sometimes it goes without saying that reform is necessary. For those who follow the revolutionary work that I am doing, I encourage you to speak your truth, speak up for others, and make a change in your daily activities to support the efforts of women and other minorities. One way we can also unsubscribe to the nonsense in the world is by not participating in it. What I mean by that, is to not contribute to the problem. We must stand up, make a change, or else we risk losing all that we have fought for in the last hundred years. I remember reading an article about International Women's Day, (and I am pretty sure I shared it with you last year), that it will take us another 100 years before we see equal rights for all. In my opinion, that is far too long. If we can find the balance in our hearts and minds, then we can create an exterior world that mimics these changes that have been made internally. So, on this International Women's Day, I encourage all of you to make a conscious effort to find your balance within, so that we can consciously create a world where everyone has the same opportunities and ability to achieve a new level of balance in the system that has been dismantled over the last several hundred years, to suppress women. When women rise, others follow. It is time to step up ladies, and change the world for the better.

Mindfulness & Movement

I also invite you to join me every Wednesday morning from 10-11 am as I share my mediation and yoga practice with the community. This is a safe space where all are welcome. No experience is required. For March, the focus is on the solar plexus, which is directly linked to your sense of self. This energy center is associated with your self-esteem, sense of purpose, personal identity, individual will, digestion, and metabolism. This chakra acts as the body’s energy powerhouse. When spinning properly, the solar plexus chakra allows energy to flow, but if it becomes blocked or clogged, you may find yourself feeling powerless, stagnant, or quick to anger. When it is out of alignment, digestive issues can arise. But when the solar plexus chakra is in healthy alignment, you will be comfortable with your own inherent power and become more empowered. You will have a sense of who you are and why you are here. When you connect with your purpose, you gain a deeper understanding of how you as an individual can contribute to the collective in a beneficial way. This is the Age of Aquarius after all -be an authentic individual, and show up for your community. You will let go of the things—whether it’s your job or bank account balance—that you depend on to define who you are. Those things may have value, but overvaluing anything that subject to change is a quick road to suffering. You have inherent value; take the time through practice to investigate it, and you will be less dependent on external sources of happiness. Come with an open heart and mind, and feel your body unwind. Love yourself.
