World Peace Day encourages us to be kind to others and teach others to be peaceful. Even though we are at war 97% of the time, we can make it a point to practice peace within ourselves. There are several things that you can do to achieve more peace in your life, it just takes a little effort and practice. I have been searching for peace for many years now, and over the last year or two, I think I found it. Here are some tools that can help you achieve more peace in your life. The first one is to meditate. Sit in silence and close your eyes. Start with one minute, then five, then increase it to twenty, eventually. You'd be surprised with what comes up when you just calm down. Practice breathwork. The only way to calm down the nervous system is to breathe. Take a walk in nature. It has a way of immediately calming you down no matter what is going on. Be kind to the world around you (and yourself). It feels good, try it! Another thing that feels great is laughter. Laugh as much as you can, you'll find it is one of the best remedies to any situation. Express yourself. We are all creators, and we create our own reality. Whether it's through writing or painting, making music, cooking, or dancing, find a way to get out of your head and create something special to you. Practice mindfulness, aka be present. Pay attention to what you're doing, what you're thinking about, what you're eating, etc. Most of us spin the stories of our past or freak out about the future. All we have is right now, so make the most of it. Lastly, take a break from social media and stop comparing yourself to others. You are the only you that exists in the world. Find yourself and find peace, then spread that around.
