What can you do to protect your energy?

You are in charge of your own energy.

Whether it's emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually, we all need to be able to protect ourselves from negativity or toxic people, places, or things. Here are ways to protect your energy: 1. Be aware of your thoughts. 2. Spend more time alone. 3. Let go of things you can’t control. 4. Develop an attitude of gratitude. 5. Pay attention to your triggers. 6. Speak kindly to yourself and others. 7. Stop comparing yourself to others. 8. Avoid people who drain your energy. 9. Escape spaces that don’t feel right. 10. Keep your faith larger than your fear. If you practice these on a regular basis, you will find yourself armed with an internal awareness of self to preserve your energy resources from being drained by the external forces of the world. You have more power than you think.

Protect yourself before you wreck yourself.

We all know that in order to show up in this world, we need to take care of ourselves. We are so busy in this life taking care of others and our responsibilities that it feels like we are constantly going from one thing to the next. But what if we took care of ourselves and put our needs first so that we could benefit others more? You are not doing anyone any favors by not establishing a healthy way of being. If you/your energy is out of wack, you are the only one that can do anything about it. And the more misaligned you are, the less capable you are of serving others and yourself.

The Substitute

Another great way to protect your energy is to just breathe. Have you ever noticed the times where you really wanted to say something to someone who is trying to get a rise out of you, but you chose to stay silent instead? Silence is a great teacher to us all and can be really useful during uncomfortable situations where someone is trying to push you to the extreme. The Substitute is a tool for you to use to take a deep breath in and exhale the negative out instead of saying something you may regret. Sometimes we just need to take a moment and breathe. Consider the alternative. The Substitute. No tobacco, no toxins, simply air. Just breathe.
