Conscious parenting

Conscious parenting is a term used to describe a style of parenting that generally focuses more on the parent and how mindfulness can drive parenting decisions. It’s grounded in a combination of Eastern-style philosophy and Western-style psychology. In other words, a bringing together of meditation and self-reflection. Put most simply, conscious parenting asks that instead of striving to “fix” your child, parents look inward at themselves. Conscious parenting views children as independent beings, though admittedly still developing over time, who can teach parents to become more self-aware. Once I discovered this, everything changed...

Consciously loving

I absolutely love my daughter, but sometimes, she can really push my boundaries. Now for those of you who have kids, especially adult children, you know that things can be, um, somewhat challenging from time to time. And I don't know about you, but I get frustrated when my child doesn't do what I want her to do. So instead of focusing on what she is or is not doing, I need to focus on me and how I'm showing up. She is the best reflection of me as we are all mirrors of each other constantly teaching me many of life's lessons and showing me how I can grow and learn. Funny how our children end up teaching us just as much as we teach them. Sometimes we all need to take a time out to breathe and reset so we can continue to love. 

Conscious uncoupling

Conscious uncoupling brings wholeness to the spirits of both people who choose to recognize each other as their teacher. If they do, the gift they receive from their time together will neutralize their negative internal object that was the real cause of their pain in the relationship. People show up in your life for a reason, season, or lifetime. Knowing when it is time to take a break or go in another direction is all part of the process. When the lessons are learned, when the souls have healed, when growth has occurred, things continue to evolve. If the relationships that you are in are no longer healthy or happy, or ultimately no longer serving you, it may be time to let go.

Consciously living

Living consciously is about taking control of your life. It's actually thinking about your decisions rather than making them without thought, about having a life that we want, rather than settling for the one that just happens. If you’re drifting through life, or feel out of control, or don’t know how you got here … deciding to live consciously could be the single most important thing you do. It is not something you can change overnight. Living consciously is a lifestyle, a skill, an art. It’s not something you do just once, but a habit that you can develop for the rest of your life.
